云浮有着独特的区位优势和丰富的物产资源，是一个有着很大的开发潜力和广阔的发展前景的年轻的地级市。
云浮地处广东中西部，东连珠江三角洲，西靠广西东南，北临西江。距广州160公里，距香港300公里，324国道和三茂铁路横贯全境，云浮港坐拥西江，可谓面向珠三角，沟通大西南。
云浮素有"硫都"和"石材王国"之称。云浮硫铁矿是目前世界上最大的硫铁矿生产基地，云浮的"百里石料建材走廊"集天下石材之大成加工开发。这里还是全省最大的肉鸡生产供应基地、最大的不锈钢制品生产和出口基地。
根据云浮的实际，我在去年的市二届人大一次会议的《政府工作报告》中提出了云浮应走珠三角延伸的发展路子。其内涵是积极接受珠三角地区辐射，大力吸纳其产业转移项目，形成梯度延伸之势；努力使云浮的经济发展规划和产业布局与珠三角紧密联成一体，积极参加国际间和城市间的分工合作；大力发展地方特色经济。为了提高对外开放水平,加快经济发展步伐,云浮积极搞好基础设施建设，努力创造良好的投资环境。
目前，云浮正以便利的交通、充足的工业用地和供水供电，众多的投资项目，优惠的政策，完善的服务吸引着四方客商，成为西江流域一块新的投资热土。

Yunfu, benefited by its geological location and rich natural
resources, is Guangdong's youngest municipality with great potentiality
for exploitation and vast vistas for development.
Located in the West-central Guangdong Province, the Municipality
links with the Pearl River Delta in the east, borders Southwest
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the west and stands by the
Xijiang River in the north. The city proper is 160 km from Guangzhou
and 300 km from Hong Kong. The National Highway 324 and the
Sanshui-Maoming Railway run through the Municipality and the
Yunfu Port kisses the River. Yunfu is indeed a link between
the Pearl River Delta and the vast Southwest China area.
Yunfu has been always called the "Pyrite Capital"
in the world and the "Stone Material Kingdom". The
Yunfu Pyrite Mine is the biggest pyrite production base while
the "One Hundred Mile Stone Gallery" processes and
develops stone products of quality blocks from home and abroad.
Yunfu is also the leading supply base of table chickens, and
the biggest production and export base of stainless utensils
in the Provinces.
According to Yunfu's concrete conditions, I advanced a new
concept in my Report on the Work of the Government delivered
at the First Session of the Second Municipal People's Congress
last year that Yunfu should take the road for development
as an extension of the Pearl River Delta, the connotations
of which are :
That Yunfu should accept the economic radiation of and operate
the transfer projects from the Delta so as to form an echelon
extension,
That Yunfu should closely link its plan for economic development
and industrial distribution together with those of the Delta
so as to participate the inter-municipal and international
division and cooperation, and
That Yunfu should actively develop economy with local characteristics.
To open wider to the outside world and speed up the economy,
Yunfu has greatly improved its infrastructure facilities and
created a much better investment environment.
Being a new promising land for investment by the Xijiang
River, Yunfu has been attracting guests from everywhere with
convenient transportation, sufficient industrial land, secured
supply of water and power, numbers of proposed projects, preferential
policies and perfect service.
